NewJerseyNewsRoom.com:  "At his latest town hall meeting, Christie criticized the Democratic-controlled Legislature for not moving bills related to his agenda during the lame-duck session in December.  Christie told his audience. ‘It was a pile of crap, I vetoed most of it.'" 

Politico:  "Missouri Senate candidate John Brunner has taken a fair share of flack for skipping out on early debates with his GOP primary foes.  But there appears to be a feasible explanation for the dodge: A first time candidate needs time to prepare."   

 

NYT:  "Unpopular and divided, the once mighty House Republicans are laboring to repair their image and frame a new agenda.  With their poll numbers sinking, House Republicans long to blunt the notion that they are recalcitrant and combative."   

 

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace:  "Newt Gingrich has not articulated a coherent policy, choosing instead to employ fear-mongering rhetoric. Indeed, Gingrich's policy statements fail to exhibit a detailed understanding of China, despite his profession that he has ‘been studying China since the 1960s.'" 

LA Times:  "City Controller Wendy Greuel and City Councilman Eric Garcetti raised more than a million dollars each through Dec. 31. Councilwoman Jan Perry hauled in $827,000. Investment banker Austin Beutner raised $627,000.  Analysts say candidates need about $2 million to compete in the March 2013 primary."  

Politico:  "Top aides to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Speaker John Boehner are seeking a truce after a bitter year of behind-the-scenes fighting.  Tensions had gotten so bad between the two offices that senior aides decided that the rivalry has to be toned down."  

Politico:  "Allen West just got a new lease on life.  After a furious backlash from West's backers over a redistricting plan that would imperil his 2012 prospects, the tea party favorite got a political gift Tuesday: the opportunity to run for a nearby seat - one much more favorable to his prospects."  

 

Fond du Lac Reporter:  "A former top aide to Gov. Scott Walker accused of embezzling money meant for veterans was previously fired from a state job for ‘gross misconduct,' including misuse of public funds, newly released records show.  In January, [the aide] was accused of spending the cash on things like trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean."  

 

WashPost:  "Mitt Romney's across-the-board victory in the Florida presidential primary serves as a direct rebuttal to the criticism that he isn't conservative enough to be the party's nominee and leaves his remaining rivals with few obvious next steps."

CBS New York:  "Gov. Chris Christie referred to an openly-gay state lawmaker as 'numb nuts' after that Democratic Assemblyman compared him to two former segregationist governors from the South. Assemblyman Reed Gusciora was upset by Christie's suggestion that gay marriage should be a ballot question instead of being legislated in Trenton."
